How do Chinese schools arrange their schedule? The Chinese school calendar is usually divided into two semesters, the first of which begins in the autumn, and the second one begins after the Chinese New Year. The specific arrangements for each school is different, but we can give an approximate timetable as reference.

Final Examination: early July
Winter Vacation: from the middle of January to the middle of February
Spring Semester: the middle of February to early July

Some Important Events:

military training

School Sports Day: generally, Sports Day is held before the National Holiday, but a few universities have it during April.

Military Training: before the beginning of school, freshmen from middle school to the colleges and universities have to receive military training for one to two weeks.

Senior High School Entrance Examination is usually arranged in June and July, but the date is decided by the Education Bureau of the local city.

College Entrance Examination is nationally unified and arranged from June 6 to 8 or 9.

Vacation: during summer and winter vacations, students normally go to tutoring classes, do part-time jobs or go travelling. Junior students in university need to get an internship as they prepare for graduation. Click here to learn the extracurricular activities in primary and middle school.
