Health cards, eligibility and coverage

You need a health card to get healthcare services covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan ( OHIP ).

  • Travelling to other Canadian provinces or territories
  • Travelling outside Canada
  • Longer absences from Ontario
  • Refund claims for out-of-province expenses in Canada
  • Refund claims for out-of-country expenses
